Review:

This ‘Before Watchmen‘ gives us an introduction to Nite Owl-1 and then we see how Daniel actually becomes Nite Owl – 2. The transition is nice. But the narrative skips from one time to another. It seems to be taking place much in the future as compared to the ‘Before Watchmen’ series.

The first issue itself introduces Rorshach as a companion to Nite Owl. They make a good team. But none of their work together is show. Only one panel showing them carrying children out of a fire. But then the story skips again to when Nite Owl and Rorshach are invited to a meeting of costumed super heroes. They meet Silk Spectre at the entrance and then they meet the others- Ozymandias, Comedian, Dr. Manhattan and few others. Dr Manhattan looks very different from Watchmen. Since his appearance cannot  change, there is no excuse for his different face and body. I understand that the artists are different, but they should at least  maintain the same facial features. This issue wasn’t all that interesting. The story jus suddenly skips from one point of time to another. The Dialogues aren’t that interesting. And at least we get to see Rorshach. But probably, the Rorshach-Nite Owl, tem would be focussed upon in the Rorshach one. Hopefully!. The sad part was that Rorshach didn’t look good either. I felt as if the artist had given up hope on this series.

I didn’t like this one. The story was written all haphazardly. I just pray that the next one is better.

Final Verdict:

3/10
